• When is a Code Update Certificate or Continuing Educational Units (CEUs) required ?

It varies State to State.   Some States require the Code update anually and others require the Code update every so many years. 

Electricians should contact their licensing authority for specifics regarding State renewal requirements.



• Do I have to take the update class now ?


Not unless you need it to meet your State's renewal requirement.

Personally we believe it is wise to do it now.

• What books will I need ?


While NOT required, it is recommended you have access to a NEC Code Book.

 
• Do I have to buy a Code book ?


No.

You should have access to the Code book, but it is not required. If you do not already have a book, some student borrow it, use one from a library, purchase or view online for free.  It's completely up to you.
